Brajeshwari Mata Temple In Kangra

about famous temple of Kangra District “Brajeshwari Devi Temple”. It was built over the charred breasts of Devi  Sati. It is located in old Kangra. The ancient name of Kangra is Nagarkot. In earthquake of 1905  the temple was totally destroyed and then it was built in present style in 1920.This shrine was renown for its great wealth. but, Over the ages and decades it has been plundered relentlessly. In 1009 Mahmood Ghazni first of all looted it. It again came in to its possession on  the time of a local king.The temple was full with gold, silver,diamonds but in 1360 Firojshah Tughlaq looted it. But when Emperor Akbar came here with  Todar Mal his ‘diwan’  he restored it to its former grandeur. This white co loured temple is also one of the 51 Shakti Peeths in India. It is very beautiful and famous Temple, lot of devotee comes here every year to get the blessings of Devi Brajeshwari. And in the season of Navratri you will see crowd of people here.
